Collaboration Between Mercury Systems and Lockheed Martin in Computing Technology

Mercury Systems and Lockheed Martin have partnered to produce advanced computing technologies at a production site in Geneva, Switzerland. This collaboration was sparked by an offset program between Lockheed and the Swiss government following Switzerland’s purchase of F-35 II stealth fighter jets. The Federal Office for Defence Procurement will transfer key security technologies, including software-defined radio capabilities and cryptology, to support the production.

Mercury International’s Vice President and General Manager, Paul Tanner, expressed enthusiasm about working with Lockheed Martin to bring cutting-edge defense technologies to Switzerland. These agreements will expand the Mercury Processing Platform and introduce new capabilities to the European market. Switzerland is focusing on modernizing its military, investing in cutting-edge surveillance and kamikaze drone capabilities, and equipping itself with Lockheed’s Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missile systems.

Despite budget cuts in other government departments, Switzerland’s military has proposed an increased defense budget to address security threats resulting from the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. The country is taking significant steps to enhance its military capabilities and strengthen its defense posture in response to evolving security challenges.
