Steelers continue quarterback makeover by adding third option to lineup alongside Russell Wilson and Justin Fields

The Pittsburgh Steelers have undergone a significant transformation in their quarterback room this offseason. The team parted ways with Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, and Mason Rudolph, who signed with new teams. In their place, the Steelers welcomed Russell Wilson from the Denver Broncos and acquired Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears for a conditional sixth-round pick. Recently, Kyle Allen was added to the roster as the third quarterback.

Kyle Allen is an undrafted player who spent the 2023 season with the Buffalo Bills. He started 13 games for the Carolina Panthers in his first two NFL seasons before playing for the Washington Football Team in 2020 and signing with the Houston Texans in 2022. Throughout his career, Allen has played in a total of 30 games, 19 of which he started, with 4,734 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. Currently, he is considered the third-string quarterback for the Steelers. However, as Mike Tomlin has stated that Wilson is currently leading for the starting position but competition will be intense as they get ready for next season’s start.
